The Charis Foundation is passionate about rescuing orphans, and providing them with a future. In March of 2009 we were able to partner with a group in Woliso, Ethiopia to build an orphanage, and support the local families with home based care. Our second Africa partners are in Nairobi, Kenya, at The Fountain of Life children's home, who currently have 44 boys rescued from the slums. Their passion and excitement is contagious, and every one of the boys has an extraordinary story of survival and hope. The money we send goes to provide food, clothing, shelter, education, and medical needs, but our 5 year commitment seeks to provide the orphanages with a self-sustaining business plan. We want to provide our partners with a future, and help them stand on their own so they can change the direction of their lives, impacting others.

In addition to our partners in Africa, we have opened a partnership between Charis and Baptiste de la Maison de Priere (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) in response to the growing need for orphan care. After the earthquake, there were 30,000 newly orphaned children, and with the spreading of cholera, there are more children everyday who need protection. We are proud to support 40 children, and to be able to provide the community around our children with free medical clinics as we continually send teams of doctors and nurses.
